Who You Are

You are a driven and organized individual with a strong background in planning and development management. You have a degree in Town Planning or a related discipline and possess a deep understanding of planning legislation and policies. Your communication skills are exceptional, enabling you to negotiate effectively, write comprehensive reports, and handle confrontational situations with ease. You thrive in managing a diverse caseload and work efficiently within strict statutory timelines.

What the Job Involves

This role involves processing, evaluating, and making recommendations on planning applications, including listed building consents, householder planning applications, prior approvals, and lawful development certificates. You will conduct site visits and negotiate with developers to amend plans when necessary, ensuring high-quality design and compliance with regulations. Providing professional advice to residents, agents, and developers on the feasibility of proposals is a key part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you'll prepare detailed officer reports, present recommendations to the Planning Committee, and handle planning appeals. Ensuring compliance with the Local Plan and National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) is essential, requiring a solid understanding of planning policy and law.
