Executive Support Officer (PO1)

Who You Are

We are looking for experienced homelessness officers who can demonstrate knowledge of housing legislation, particularly in relation to ending duties under section 193 and 188 of the housing act. The ideal candidate should have experience managing a caseload in a frontline service, strong communication skills, and the ability to work empathetically with applicants. Additionally, the candidate should be able to make legally sound decisions, maintain accurate records, and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

What the Job Involves

This role is part of the new Cessation of Duty Team within Lambeth's Housing Needs Directorate, playing a crucial part in reducing the number of applicants in or needing temporary accommodation. The Cessation of Duty Officer manages homelessness cases to the lawful conclusion under the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Responsibilities include assessment of evidence, updating Personal Housing Plans, and preparing statutory notifications. You will ensure residents understand their rights and duties, identify risks and vulnerabilities, and work with partners for safe outcomes. The role demands high-quality assessments, sensitive communication, accurate record-keeping, and contributing to service improvements.
